Journeyman Carpenter / Working Foreman

We are a small, boutique construction company looking to add a full-time, long-term Journeyman Carpenter / Working Foreman to our team.

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a journeyman carpenter/remodeler.
• Prior supervisory experience is helpful but not required. The successful candidate must be comfortable taking increasing responsibility for projects and directing other team members as needed.
• Ability to read, understand, and work from construction plans and documents.
• Ability to perform the following with limited supervision:
  • Light framing
  • Finish carpentry
  • Hanging doors
  • Setting windows and cabinets
  • Cutting and installing faux beams
  • Hanging and finishing drywall
  • Matching drywall textures
  • Painting
  • Appliance installation
• Strong understanding of construction trades, methods, sequencing, and jobsite practices.
• Willingness and ability to take on detailed, complicated, and custom installations.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality craftsmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to take direction and adapt to changing project needs, priorities, and assignments.
• Willingness to travel to project locations when necessary.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Basic power tools and hand tools appropriate for the trade.

Physical Requirements

This is an active construction position. The employee must be able to safely perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying materials, working with tools and equipment, and moving construction materials weighing up to approximately 100 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment when necessary.

Position Responsibilities

This is a hands-on carpenter position that may also serve as a working foreman on new construction and remodeling projects.

Typical projects include:

• Bathroom remodels
• Kitchen remodels
• Outdoor patios
• ADUs
• Additions
• Detached garages
• Custom home construction

Responsibilities may include:

• Performing skilled carpentry and remodeling work alongside the construction team.
• Coordinating construction work according to project priorities, plans, and schedules.
• Helping organize and assign daily responsibilities.
• Supervising and providing direction to laborers and apprentices when assigned.
• Working independently or with a team to complete daily project objectives.
• Assisting in managing assigned projects from start to completion.
• Sourcing and coordinating materials with the owner.
• Monitoring subcontractor work and workmanship.
• Helping maintain quality-control standards.
• Following applicable building codes, company safety requirements, and jobsite procedures.
• Identifying project issues and communicating proposed solutions.
• Working with the owner to ensure company standards are followed by employees and subcontractors.
• Communicating regularly with the office regarding project progress, scheduling issues, material needs, delays, or other jobsite concerns.

Schedule & Work Location

Employment: Full-time

Typical Schedule: 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Work is performed primarily in the Reno, Nevada area, with occasional travel to Truckee and South Lake Tahoe-area projects.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and applicable trade skills.

Health insurance eligibility begins after 90 days of employment, subject to the terms and eligibility requirements of the company’s benefit plan.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of applicable background screening and pre-employment drug screening, consistent with Nevada law.

Because this position involves construction jobsites, power tools and equipment, physical work, and responsibilities that may affect the safety of employees, subcontractors, customers, and others, this position is considered safety-sensitive.
