Now Hiring Journeyman Carpenter and Remodeler

Small, boutique construction company looking to add a full time, long term carpenter. We specialize in complicated and high-end remodels and new construction, and foster a healthy working environment. Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years as a journeyman carpenter/remodeller. No managerial experience is necessary, but must be open for a long term appointment with possible advancement to supervisory role. 
  • Able to read and scrutinize construction documents. 
  • Perform the following with limited supervision: light framing, finish carpentry (hang doors, set windows, set cabinets, cut and set faux beams), hang and finish drywall, match drywall texture, paint, appliance installation.
  • Additional skills that will help with higher compensation: spraying latex paint, electrical, plumbing, hvac, masonry, concrete and foundations, low voltage, tile, excavation/utilities, roofing, steel stud framing and t-grid installation, interior design, architectural design.
  • Willingness to tackle complicated installations. We navigate the construction process from start to finish, and will expect an intimate understanding of construction trades and practices. 
  • A sense of pride and commitment to custom work. 
  • Physical strength and stamina. Ability to lift 100lbs. 
  • Open to direct instruction, and flexibility for changing tasks and assignments. 
  • Willingness to travel if the need arises. 
  • Must pass background check and drug test. 
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, basic power and hand tools. 

Job Description: 

  • On site foreman in charge of new construction and remodel projects. Typical projects are: bathroom remodel, kitchen remodel, outdoor patio. With some experience, new construction projects such as ADUs, additions, and detached garages. Assist with custom home builds. 
  • Coordinate construction work according to priorities and plans. Allocate general and daily responsibilities. Supervise the activities of laborers and apprentices. Work alone or with a team to complete daily tasks. 
  • Manage job from start to finish. Help the owner with the following: source materials, oversee subcontractor work and quality control, ensure compliance with codes and safety standards, communicate issues and propose solutions. 
  • Work with the owner to ensure company standards are followed by employees and subcontractors. 
  • Daily communication with the office to outline any setbacks and progress. 

Work Schedule and Compensation

  • Full time. 8:00am – 4:30pm. 
  • Work Location: Predominately in Reno. Rare commute to Truckee or South Lake. 
  • Compensation: $35-$45/hour, dependant upon experience; health insurance after 90 day review
